The ultimate guide to Vaginoplasty in Bangkok
Last fact-checked: 9 November 2020
Undergo affordable reconstructive surgery or repairs to female genitalia with a vaginoplasty in Bangkok. We have partnered with experienced, quality-checked surgeons who have the expertise to carry out all vaginal rejuvenation procedures in the Thai capital.
What Is Vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty is a reconstructive or cosmetic surgery that repairs and ‘tightens’ the vagina, which may have become slack, especially from childbirth. The procedure can also be used in gender reassignment.
Vaginoplasty procedures were originally undertaken to repair birth defects, i.e, reconstructive surgeries to improve function, rather than cosmetic surgery to improve appearance.
Cosmetic vaginoplasty is now a popular option, along with other related vaginal rejuvenation procedures, such as labiaplasty or clitoropexy, to enhance the appearance of the area. These procedures are also commonly referred to (particularly in the media) as the “designer vagina.”
Some surgeons claim cosmetic vaginoplasty leads to improved sensitivity during sexual intercourse, although this has been challenged by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Sexual response is complex and personal, and other factors, including emotional and individual responses, also have a bearing on sensitivity and pleasure.
Am I Suitable for Vaginoplasty?
Women may want to have vaginoplasty to improve the contours and look of the vagina and labia. It could be suitable if you have:
-
Age-related problems, such as stress urinary incontinence may wish to combine vaginoplasty with another corrective procedure.
-
Scarring from previous surgery or childbirth
-
Sagging vagina through pregnancy, age or weight loss
What Does the Vaginoplasty Procedure Involve?
Vaginoplasty surgery takes between one and two hours to perform.
You will be given general anesthesia or conscious sedation beforehand. The surgery is performed by removing the excess vaginal lining and tightening the muscles and surrounding soft tissues.
Patients can expect to attain a similar degree of tightness as they had before childbirth.
What Is the Recovery Time from Vaginoplasty?
You will experience discomfort and soreness for a few days following the surgery, so it is best not to rush home straight away (or do any vigorous holiday activities). It is important to note that everyone heals at different rates, so any timescales are approximate; you may heal in a shorter time, or it may take longer.
Stitches are usually dissolvable, so you won’t need to have them removed. You will usually be allowed to shower two days after, but no baths for several weeks. It will take three or four days before the initial discomfort subsides.
Depending on how you feel, you will be able to return to work the following week but this will depend on the nature of your work. You will need to take things slowly and not take part in vigorous exercise, including swimming and jogging, for around a month. Sexual intercourse may be resumed after six weeks assuming your recovery goes as planned.
Why Should I Choose Bangkok for a Vaginoplasty?
Alongside breast implants and nose jobs, vaginoplasty is a particularly popular surgery in Bangkok, especially with gender reassignment surgery being so prevalent here. As a result, the city is home to world-class surgeons who carry out this surgery at reputable medical facilities.
Thailand has been at the forefront of medical tourism for around two decades now; it has the infrastructure, facilities and services to make for a very comfortable and rewarding stay for patients—hence why so many come back again and again.
The low costs are still a draw, with most people saving around 50% on what they would normally pay at home. With such savings, you’ll have more than enough left over to enjoy a holiday in this exciting city.
Vaginoplasty surgery has relatively little downtime in comparison to other surgeries–and some people are back at work within days. If you decide to combine your surgery with a holiday, you should be out-and-about again within a few days, so long as you don’t attempt anything too energetic.
