The ultimate guide to Tummy Tuck in Bali
Last fact-checked: 12 November 2020
Sagging skin across your midriff? Looking to have it removed? Why not consider a tummy tuck in Bali; as well as the obvious savings you’ll make, you can look forward to getting pre-pregnancy figure back while enjoying a fabulous holiday to gorgeous Indonesia island.
Sometimes, diet and exercise alone are not enough to get rid of the loose skin around your middle, particularly if you have already lost weight or had children. The good news is that there is a straightforward, effective surgical solution that costs thousands less in Bali.
Why Should I Have a Tummy Tuck in Bali?
Bali is a newcomer to the world of medical tourism, but that doesn’t mean the quality isn’t world-class in Bali's best clinics. Bali's hospitals and clinics are exceptionally kitted with the highest-quality diagnostic and therapeutic technology. Taking quality seriously, the Indonesian government is making sure its services compare favorably with other medical destinations in Asia and are ensuring hospitals are accredited with internationally-recognized organizations, such as the Joint Commission International.
Obviously, most people come to Bali with rest, relaxation and recuperation in mind; whether you want to vacation before your procedure or chill while recovering, the island offers a host of activities to suit all.
Wonderful beaches, the rugged mountains, verdant rice terraces and friendly natives make this an unforgettable destination. Before treatment, you can sample activities like white-water rafting and surfing, experience some Bali traditions like fire dancing, explore unique temples or just gorge on the array of delicious cuisines here.
One of the other reasons you may want to consider Bali for your tummy tuck is the price; as you’ll see further down, it’s possible to save thousands.
What’s Involved in a Tummy Tuck Procedure and How Long Does it Take?
Procedure times vary on the amount of excess skin that needs to be removed and whether you have a full or partial tummy tuck:
-
In a full tummy tuck, a long incision is made about the pubic area, and a shorter one near the belly button, so this can be moved.
-
In a partial tummy tuck, the incision above the pubic area is much shorter, and there isn’t one made by the naval as the belly button need not be moved.
Once the incision(s) are made, the skin is separated from the abdominal wall and the muscles are pulled tight and sutured. The skin is pulled tight, the excess of which is removed and the remaining skin stitched back into place.
Tummy tuck surgery normally takes between one and three hours.
What About Postoperative Recovery?
You will need to rest in bed for several days afterward. Stitches are usually removed between 5-7 days after your procedure. Some patients return to work after a week, but two may be more suitable. You will need to be careful not to do any vigorous activity for six weeks, and it will be several months before you feel completely fine—and up to a year for your scars to heal completely.
Do consult your surgeon in Bali as to when you will be able to fly back home (for example, you may need to stay on the island to have your stitches out and/or attend a follow-up appointment). He or she should be able to give you a rough timeline so you can plan your trip accordingly.
