Sculptra in Mexico

The ultimate guide to Sculptra in Mexico

Last fact-checked: 24 November 2020

Improve wrinkles and sagging skin subtly with Sculptra® in Mexico. This treatment is designed to lend a natural appearance to your face with changes that appear gradually over a course of treatments.

An injectable dermal filler, Sculptra is recommended for use on static lines and wrinkles, those that are always present, regardless of your facial expression. They do not freeze the underlying muscles, as some facial wrinkles do, but the results will be understated and refined.

Keep reading this brief Medical Departures guide to learn more, as well as how to use our site to book your Sculptra treatment at a quality-checked clinic in Mexico.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material that has been in medical use for decades. It is readily absorbed by the body and helps to replace collagen, the main protein that builds skin cells (which decrease in number as we age, leading to folds and wrinkles.)

Why Have Sculptra in Mexico?

Sculptra usually requires a series of three treatments before it is fully effective, with four to six weeks in between (allowing new collagen to grow). This means if you're based in the Southern California, Arizona or the nearby region multiple trips across the US-Mexico border may well be worthwhile; on the other hand, if you must fly into Mexico to receive treatment, savings may be negated by the price of your airfares.

As many patients who have traveled to Mexico for medical, surgical and dental work can attest, the quality of facilities and treatment throughout the country is generally very good, as long as you know where to look. Medical tourism is part of Mexico’s growing economy, and it is now rivaling destinations such as Thailand in terms of standards and the number of patients choosing to come.

For medical tourists, long gone are the stereotypes of unhygienic, dusty backstreet medical offices; these have been replaced by state-of-the-art, modern facilities equipped with the most up-to-date technology, and highly-qualified staff (many of whom are US-trained).\

Why Book with Medical Departures?

We ensure that our clinics and doctors meet with the expectations of patients from more developed nations with our quality-checking measures. Clinic visits, confirmation of qualifications and professional memberships, litigation and criminal record checks and real patient reviews form the backbone of our processes to safeguard patient safety. Only if we are satisfied with all the criteria do we list clinics on our website.

However, we advise you to do your homework on cosmetic procedures you may be considering, especially when it comes to facial treatments, as not all wrinkles are created equal, and not every treatment will work for all wrinkles.

What Is Involved in the Sculptra Treatment? How Long Does it Take?

Although you don’t need to be allergy tested before the treatment, Sculptra is designed to work gradually, over a period of time, and it is usually recommended that you have a series of three treatments. As the treatment stimulates collagen production–and collagen takes four to six weeks to form–it is suggested you leave this amount of time between each session.

During each session, the injection sites will be chosen and the product injected under the skin using a fine needle. You may experience redness, bruising and swelling for a few days following treatment, but these will subside. Your practitioner will advise you on aftercare; optimal results are usually achieved if you massage the treatment area twice a day for a week.

You will notice a gradual improvement in your facial wrinkles in the weeks following each session, with optimal results after the course is completed, lasting for up to two years.

How Much Can I Save on Sculptra in Mexico Compared to the US and Canada?

The cost of Sculptra in Mexico is around $250 dollars a vial, with most patients requiring three vials for the course of their treatments, so around $750 in total. In the United States, it costs around $900 per vial or $2,700 in total.
