Restylane in Mexico

The ultimate guide to Restylane in Mexico

Last fact-checked: 30 November 2020

Plump up wrinkles with Restylane® in Mexico. A popular type of dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural product found in the human body, Restylane is one of the most popular fillers for facial wrinkles and in Mexico costs at least 50% less than at home.

Why Consider Restylane in Mexico?

Most people who head to Mexico for medical purposes do so because of the far more affordable prices compared to the US and Canada. Getting treatment here is also a great opportunity if you're already on vacation and want to return home looking healthier and younger without breaking the bank.

Wherever you go in the country, you will discover excellent medical facilities, combined with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and skilled clinicians. Border cities such as Tijuana and Mexicali are particularly attractive medical tourism destinations thanks to their close proximity to the US. The resort destinations such as Cancun and Puerto Vallarta appeal to travelers heading out on holiday anyway, seeking to save money on treatment while there.

Mexico has long been a favorite destination for American and Canadian tourists, and it is now one of the world’s most popular for medical travelers. World-class facilities exist up and down the country, with the latest technologies and most up-to-date treatments ensuring Mexico remains very much on the world’s medical tourism map.

Booking with Medical Departures

Medical Departures works closely with our partner clinics to ensure we only promote those we'd visit ourselves. Our quality measures include clinic visits, verification of qualifications and professional memberships, as well as checking legal/criminal records. We also place great stock on patient testimonials as these are the people who have experienced the services first-hand. Taken together, these measures give a very accurate picture as to the reliability of specific doctors and clinics, and gives our patients some solid information on which to base a decision of where to go and who to choose.

How Does Restylane Work?

Similar to Juvederm®, Restylane is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler. HA is present in our bodies—in the skin, joints and eyes. It contains moisture, which helps hydrate and plump your skin. As we age, we produce less of it, which leads to the formation of wrinkles. Babies have a lot of HA, which accounts for their soft, dewy skin.

While it won't give you back that baby-smooth skin, Restylane administers HA into the skin layers which rehydrates and plumps, ironing out those wrinkles.

How Is the Restylane Procedure Carried Out and What Is the Downtime?

Restylane is administered with a syringe and injected into the specific areas where it is needed. Local anesthesia is usually given, and the procedure only takes a few minutes per area.

You may experience a little discomfort, and afterward redness and swelling, which will subside after a day or two. You can put make-up on straight after the procedure if you want to disguise the redness.

Results should be fully noticeable within a week.

How Much Can I Save on the Price of Restylane in Mexico Compared to the United States and Canada?

Most treatment costs are per full syringe, but some areas, such as around the eyes, require two syringes.

  • The average cost per syringe of Restylane in Mexico is around $300 (CAD $370, GBP £200, Euros 250, AUD $400).
  • In the US, the average cost is $500 (CAD $600, GBP £320, Euros 450, AUD $650).
Do note: While it might not be worth traveling to Mexico specifically for Restylane treatment for most people, if you live near the US-Mexico border, having the procedure done in Mexico could make financial sense. You may also like to think about having the treatment while you’re on a vacation or business trip as this procedure causes minimal discomfort with no downtime, so you can get on with your holiday or work immediately afterward.
