Neck Lift in Mexico

The ultimate guide to Neck Lift in Mexico

Last fact-checked: 6 December 2020

The neck often shows telltale signs of age before your face does, but having an affordable neck lift in Mexico can help you take years off while potentially saving you thousands compared to what you'd expect to pay back home.

A neck lift can correct a double chin, "turkey neck" and improve jowls, and most people won’t even know that you’ve had any surgery performed–they’ll simply think you’ve lost weight!

For patients who do not want or feel they need a full facelift, it is the perfect option for improving the lower part of the face. Many patients often have it carried out together with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a brow lift, rejuvenating their appearance with subtle changes that won't scream "I've just had surgery" once you're back home.

Why Have a Neck Lift in Mexico?

Mexico has always been a favorite destination for low-cost medical and dental care, particularly for North Americans and Canadians. As a holiday destination, Mexico’s popularity has spread across the world, and it is no coincidence that it is now a preferred destination for medical tourists.

Now one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, Mexico has seen investment poured into its industries and services, and some of its medical facilities now rival the best found anywhere in the world.

Price may be the primary motivating factor for people looking at neck lift surgery in Mexico, but just as important is the medical expertise, quality of facilities and standards of care. Good facilities in Mexico know this, ensuring they have state-of-the-art medical care, and board-certified medical staff so important to to international patients. Many of Mexico's doctors also have American Board registrations as well.

Why Book with Medical Departures?

While clinics that treat international patients are generally reliable, it is always worth doing some background checking, learning as much as you can about your particular condition and desires, and the procedure(s) that can correct it. By the same token, finding out about prospective doctors and clinics will also help put your mind at ease.

Medical Departures bears some of this burden as our doctors have already been background-checked for criminal/legal activity, as well as qualifications and professional memberships. Visiting clinics is also one of our processes, as is obtaining patient testimonials. Only when these criteria measure up do we list a doctor on our website. Our patients are safe in the knowledge that by choosing their doctor with Medical Departures they are guaranteed a reliable experience.

How Long Does a Neck Lift Take and What Does the Procedure Entail?

In common with many other cosmetic surgery procedures, a neck lift can be tailor-made to suit your particular circumstances, and so the time the procedure takes can vary significantly. On average, the surgery takes around two hours.

For so-called "turkey" or "wattle neck" problems and neck bands, surgery incisions are made under the chin and/or behind the ears so the neck muscle can be accessed and manipulated accordingly. Excess tissue is trimmed away and stitched in place.

Excess fat can be removed through liposuction through small incisions below the chin.

What is the Recovery Time for a Neck Lift?

Your wounds will usually be bandaged after surgery and there may be drainage tubes in position to help remove fluid away from the wounds.

You will be given pain relief, but your neck will more than likely feel tender, stiff and sore. Bruising will become evident after a day or two, which should subside over the following week.

It may be advisable to sleep in an elevated position for the first few weeks and to do gentle stretching exercises. Most people go back to work within one or two weeks, but you will not be able to do anything strenuous for at least six weeks, and it may take a number of months before the tightness in your neck subsides and you become fully accustomed to the new you.

How Much Can I Save on a Neck Lift in Mexico Compared to the United States and Canada?
