Liposuction in Pattaya

The ultimate guide to Liposuction in Pattaya

Last fact-checked: 19 December 2020

Consider undergoing liposuction in Pattaya, Thailand if you’ve lost the weight, but you still have stubborn areas of fat that just won’t move.

Liposuction (lipo for short) gets rid of fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Book with Medical Departures to ensure you’re treated by a quality-checked surgeon while saving up 70%!

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

You may suitable for liposuction if:

  • Your weight is in or very close to the “normal” range

  • You might have some disproportionate fat deposits that aren’t responding to normal diet and exercise

  • Have fat around target areas including the abdomen, hips, thighs or male breasts

  • Are around or under the age of 35 (as skin elasticity is important in conforming to the new body shape, which degenerates as we get older).

Why Should I Consider Undergoing Liposuction in Pattaya?

Thailand is renowned for its service industry, which also extends to the patient experience. The seaside city of Pattaya also has a few decent beaches, or consider a visit to the nearby island of Ko Lan. You can also plan visits to attractions like the Sanctuary of Truth, shopping malls and their faux floating market. Part of its draw is also down to the fact that it can be reached via road from Bangkok, whereas most other beach destinations in Thailand require a flight.

You’ll experience world-class medical care, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, as well as experienced surgeons trained to carry out the latest and effective techniques.

Imagine receiving care that rivals or surpasses that which you find at home, add in airfare, accommodations and food... all for 50-70% less than it would cost in your own country!

What Happens During the Liposuction Procedure?

You may be administered local anesthesia (only the area affected will be numb), intravenous (IV) sedation (you’ll be extremely relaxed), or general anesthesia (you’ll be asleep).

The surgeon will then make a small incision and infuse medications into the area to reduce pain and ease the process. Using a cannula (thin hollow tube) that is attached to a vacuum, the surgeon will then move it back and forth, suctioning dislodged fat from the area.

Lipo is usually carried out as an outpatient procedure, but sometimes you may have the option for an overnight hospital stay.

You can read more about Liposuction at the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Techniques:

Among the many lipo techniques, the safest and most common uses cannulas. These “micro” cannulas are about 2.8mm in diameter, allowing for more precise control.

Fat cells are infused with a saline/local anesthetic/adrenaline mix. This combo helps assure safety, eases the removal process, and makes for a less uncomfortable recovery.

Lasers and ultrasound devices can assist in the micro-cannula liposuction procedure. Both the laser method and ultrasound method work to dissolve the fat, making it easier to extract via cannula.

How Long Does the Procedure Generally Take?

The surgery could take anywhere from two to seven hours—depending upon the type of anesthesia type, as well as the size and number of areas treated.

What Does the Recovery Process Look Like?

You may have to wear a compression garment for some time after the surgery; this provides support, helping to reduce pain and inflammation. You’ll want to take it easy at first, especially when you are still in Thailand, with a good few days resting in and around your hotel before flying home.

Depending on the area you have done, you can return to work in about a week and get back to low impact exercise in about a month. You should see more apparent results after around three months and the final results will stun you at the six-month mark.
