What Happens During the Liposuction Procedure?

After you have been given an anesthetic the procedure begins. Small incisions are made in the areas where the fat is to be removed. Cannulas (long, thin tubes) are inserted and a saline mixture is injected into the fat cells which dissolves them so they can be sucked out by a machine. Sometimes ultrasound waves are used to break up the fat cells instead of the injection.

How Long Does Liposuction Take?

This depends on which areas you have done. Just one area may take an hour or two, but a few areas could take up to several hours.
