Liposuction in Philippines

The ultimate guide to Liposuction in Philippines

Important note as of 27 October 2022:

At this time, Medical Departures is no longer facilitating medical bookings in the Philippines.

To find and schedule a free appointment with a board-registered surgeon elsewhere in Asia, please browse our network of trusted, verified liposuction providers in Thailand, Bali or South Korea—as well as dozens of other destinations to choose from in our main global guide.

Alternatively, see some of our popular medical destination guides below—containing travel tips, price comparisons, before & after photos, reviews, and recommended clinics for other types of plastic surgery, dermatology, hair transplantation, orthopedics, fertility and anti-aging treatments:

We thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best in good health and safe travels.

Why Liposuction - And Am I Suitable for it?

Sometimes even when we watch our diet and exercise regularly, we can’t shift some areas of fat. This is where liposuction can help–and once the fat’s off, it will hopefully be easier to maintain your newer, slimmer shape.

Liposuction can be carried out almost anywhere. For example, on the face, lipo can be used to get rid of a double chin. More commonly it's used around the body, targeting stubborn belly, butt, thigh and back fat.

Do note that patients must be over 18 with weight within the normal range, as well as enough elasticity in their skin to allow it to shrink down to a new shape.

Why Should I Have Liposuction in the Philippines?

The Philippines is fast becoming an important medical tourist destination. Living costs are low compared to developed nations; if you opt to travel here, you’ll find that medical and surgical costs are considerably lower, as well.

This doesn’t mean that the quality is inferior; far from it, in fact. Medical training now takes place on the world stage, and with frequent, low-cost flights around the globe it isn’t unusual for doctors practicing in the Philippines to have undertaken some of their training on foreign soil such as the US or Europe.

You'll also find the medical staff here have international affiliations with professional organizations, just like the doctors at home.

As for healthcare facilities, there is a difference between public and private healthcare, with medical tourists treated mostly at private healthcare facilities. These facilities are often modern and state-of-the-art, equipped with the latest technologies and offering sophisticated clinical care and international patient services–a far cry from what many Western patients are used to at home!

Why Book with Medical Departures?

Booking with Medical Departures means you can be more confident with the knowledge that we have done the background work for you. We visit clinics and hospitals; verify qualifications and professional memberships of medical staff and also run legal/criminal checks.

We authenticate and publish patient reviews on our site, alongside clinic photos, virtual video tours and much more–giving you a good picture of what to expect with an in-person visit. If we’re not happy with a clinic or doctor, we don’t promote them on our site.

Getting to the Philippines

Flying into the Philippines is easy, and Manila is well connected for travel to other parts of the country. English is spoken widely by the majority of the population and so making yourself understood will not be an issue. Filipino’s are renowned for their friendliness and you will enjoy getting to know this country and its people.

What Happens During the Liposuction Procedure?

After you have been given an anesthetic the procedure begins. Small incisions are made in the areas where the fat is to be removed. Cannulas (long, thin tubes) are inserted and a saline mixture is injected into the fat cells which dissolves them so they can be sucked out by a machine. Sometimes ultrasound waves are used to break up the fat cells instead of the injection.

How Long Does Liposuction Take?

This depends on which areas you have done. Just one area may take an hour or two, but a few areas could take up to several hours.
