Facial Liposuction in South Korea

The ultimate guide to Facial Liposuction in South Korea

Last fact-checked: 26 July 2020

Discover the benefits of facial liposuction in South Korea and restore your youthful looks with one of our experienced, quality-checked surgeons.

Facial liposuction, or liposculpture as it is also known, is not a substitute for weight loss, but it does help with recontouring the face to recreate a younger look and can help with removing stubborn pockets of fat. It can help to improve double chins, turkey/wattle necks and jowls and may be performed on its own, or in combination with another facial cosmetic procedure.

Why Undergo Facial Liposuction in South Korea?

In terms of experienced surgeons, South Korea is hard to beat. Worldwide, 20 million cosmetic surgery procedures were performed in 2015, with one million of them in South Korea. More cosmetic surgery per capita is performed here than any other country, and it is estimated that in some sections of society (most notably young women living in major cities), approximately half have had some form of cosmetic work.

South Korea is an up-and-coming destination in terms of medical tourists. While plastic surgery is commonplace among the local population, the country hasn’t really marketed itself to international clients as have other Asian countries (notably Thailand). This, however, is predicted to change as the government increasingly looks to medical tourism is an economically viable proposition—and money is being invested to take advantage of it.

South Korea already has an excellent infrastructure to cope with an influx of foreign visitors. As well as megacities like Seoul, the world's fastest Internet, bullet trains and technological giants (like Samsung) all help to reflect South Korea’s status as a truly 21st-century nation.

Why Book with Medical Departures?

As you would expect, most of the healthcare facilities here are excellent. Modern hospitals and clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and medical staff is skilled, certified and experienced, providing millions of people with the cosmetic results they hope to achieve.

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do a little investigating yourself. While facilities are generally good, it’s always worthwhile doing your own due diligence. This is where Medical Departures can really help, as we carry out checks on doctor qualifications, professional memberships and experience so you don’t have to. We also collect and publish online testimonials so you can make an informed decision as to which facility is right for you.

What Does the Procedure for Facial Liposuction Entail and How Long Does it Take?

Facial liposuction is usually carried out under local anesthetic. Small incisions are made through which a narrow tube is passed that releases a saline solution into the fat to liquefy it so it can be extracted easily.

The incisions are made in inconspicuous areas—often through the inside of the mouth—so that no scarring will be visible after the procedure.

The procedure usually lasts for around an hour.

How Much Can I Save on Facial Liposuction in South Korea Compared to Australia?

Facial liposuction in South Korea costs around 50% less than it does in Australia. [Please note: these prices are approximate estimates based on international data, calculated at the time of writing.]
