How Long Does an Eye Bag Removal Procedure Take and What Does it Entail?

The time it takes to complete the eye bag removal surgery depends on whether you choose to have only the upper or lower lids done, or both–so the time could vary between one and three hours.

Local anesthetic or light sedation is usually given, rather than general anesthesia. The incisions to remove the excess skin and fat from your eyelids are made in inconspicuous areas:

• For surgery to the lower lids, incisions are made inside the lower lid, so no scars are detectable.
• On the upper lids, the incision is typically made in one of the eye’s natural creases.
