Why Consider Having Butt Implants in Thailand?
A world-renowned Southeast Asian destination, Thailand also now boasts a fantastic reputation for medical tourism. It has been welcoming international patients since the 1990’s and has enviable facilities that are often more like boutique hotels than sterile wards.
Many of Thailand’s hospitals that treat international patients are modern and new, offering contemporary facilities and state-of-the-art technology. Thailand was the first country in Southeast Asia to have a JCI-accredited hospital, considered to be the gold standard in healthcare quality and patient safety. It now has over 60 in places like Phuket, Pattaya and the capital, Bangkok.
Hospital rooms are luxurious, with room for partners to stay, and equipped with wifi, lounge and kitchen areas – much more like a holiday apartment. Facilities are impressive, but so too are the skills of the medical staff.
Medicine is a much respected profession in Thailand, and is very competitive with only the best candidates admitted to medical school. In these days of cross-border training, it isn’t unusual to find internationally-trained doctors, who have qualifications from overseas institutions in the Americas and Europe.
What Does the Procedure for Butt Implants Involve and What Is the Recovery Time?
Butt implant surgery can be carried out under a general anaesthetic, intravenous sedation or using an epidural block.
Prior to surgery, you and your surgeon will already have agreed on the size, shape and filling of the implants, and your surgeon may have discussed the particular surgical technique they intend to use to insert the implant.
The procedure is relatively straightforward, taking around an hour to perform, and can be done without an overnight stay in hospital. If you are having additional work, such as liposuction, the procedure will take a little more time.
The implants will be inserted into the buttock through small incisions which will be made in an area where the scar can be hidden. After insertion of the implants, the incisions are stitched closed and bandaged. You may need to wear a support garment for a few weeks.
After surgery, the following should be noted:
- You will be more comfortable lying on your stomach, rather than sitting down, for at least a few days.
- If you do have to sit, for example, in a car, you will need a soft cushion or pillow.
- You will experience tenderness, swelling and bruising, but this will start to subside after a week or so.
- You should be back to doing normal sedentary activities within two weeks, but nothing vigorous or strenuous for around six weeks.
- It will take up to three months before all the swelling has gone down and for the implants to settle properly.
What Is the Cost of Butt Implants in Thailand Compared to Australia?
