The ultimate guide to Breast Lift in Phuket Province
Last fact-checked: 8 September 2020
Raise sagging, uneven, misshapen or flattened boobs with a breast lift in Phuket. This popular Thai island province offers expertise on par with standards back home. Our partner clinics offer treatment at around 70% less than you would find in Australia, New Zealand, the UK or the US.
What Does a Breast Lift Do?
This procedure is designed to correct the nipple position and restore shape that has been lost over time due to pregnancy, relaxation of ligaments, weight loss or gain, nursing babies or just the force of gravity.
It should be remembered that although a breast lift will modify the elevation and contour, it won’t increase the size of your breasts; it will only perk them up. In order to make them larger, you would need to opt for implants alongside the mastopexy. Your surgeon will be happy to consult with you on your requirements and desires, then work to suggest what’s best for you.
Why Should I Consider a Breast Lift in Phuket?
Known as the "Pearl of the Andaman," Phuket is the largest and most-visited island in Thailand. The seaside resort (with the busiest beach) on the island is Patong. Renowned for its nightlife, culture, local colour, white sands and posh hotels, it’s a direct contrast to the other end of the island which offers deep-sea diving, the Sirinat National Park, fishing, high-end shopping and sightseeing. As well as adjacent beach resorts, another hugely popular area is Phuket's Old Town, home to great shopping and dining options, as well as plenty of sightseeing opportunities.
Thailand is fast becoming the jewel in the crown of medical tourism and there are many factors that have made this so. The climate, standard of care, friendliness of the locals, expertise, world-class medical facilities—many of them JCI accredited—holistic and alternative therapies, fewer entry procedures for foreign visitors but most of all, affordability.
The reason your procedure in Phuket will cost only a fraction of the price you pay at home is largely that the cost of living in Thailand is so much lower than in the US or Europe. The medical and service infrastructure are on par with anywhere else in the world and more often than not, the medical staff has studied, trained or served their internships abroad, often in America. With the latest technology, innovative methods and techniques and world-class facilities, you can rest assured you will be in expert hands.
More than two million patients visit Thailand from abroad each year, a figure that has been steadily increasing annually. This demonstrates Thailand’s ability to provide safe, high-quality, affordable treatments year over year.
What’s Involved in a Breast Lift and How Long Does it Take?
Breast lifts can be carried out in conjunction with other procedures, such as breast reduction. If you’re happy with the size of your breasts and aren’t looking to increase or decrease the volume, then a breast uplift may well be the best option for you.
The key-hole procedure usually takes around three hours and is carried out under general anesthetic. It involves removing excess skin from below the breast or around the areola (dark tissue around the nipple) so the remaining skin can be tightened. The nipple is repositioned in line with the middle of the upper arm and the breast tissue pulled up leaving your breasts pert and youthful.
If the "degree of droop" is minimal, your surgeon may suggest a "mini-uplift" which only involves an incision around the lower area of the areola. Your breasts will be fuller, firmer and more shapely and the position of your nipples more natural as a result.
You can read more about the various types of breast augmentation procedures here, which may also include breast implants, fat transfer, enlargements and reduction.
What About the Recovery Time - and When Can I Return to Work?
Recovery time varies depending on the patient, but because a breast lift is a relatively simple operation with no "muscle work" involved, it’s usually between two and six weeks.
Expect to stay overnight in the hospital so you can be monitored (although this is not always necessary). Upon your release, you will likely experience some swelling and bruising for a couple of weeks.
Other important considerations regarding your recovery from a breast lift:
- You will need to get as much rest as you can while you recover but depending on the nature of your work, light duties or office work can be resumed after about a week but it’s recommended that you have at least two weeks off work if possible.
- For around six weeks after surgery, scars are usually red, then purple for up to three months before they fade completely.
- In all, it takes around six weeks until normal, strenuous activities can be carried out.
- It’s important to remember to wear a specialized support bra for the first three weeks and a sports bra for around three months after that.
- Complete healing can take up to 12 months, although you should experience minimal discomfort during that time.
How Much Can I Save on My Breast Lift in Phuket Compared to Australia or New Zealand?
The average cost of a breast lift in Phuket is around AUD $3,600 (GBP £1,700; US $2,400; €2,300) compared to $15,800 in Australia (UK £7,600; US $10,800, EUR €9,900).
