Breast Lift in Thailand

The ultimate guide to Breast Lift in Thailand

Last fact-checked: 28 October 2020

An increasing number of women are opting to have a breast lift in Thailand, with expert surgeons here helping international patients achieve a perkier look for thousands less than back home.

Learn more about this procedure and discover Medical Departures' range of verified clinics in destinations, including Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya.

What Can I Achieve with a Breast Lift in Thailand?

A breast lift (also called a mastopexy) is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures to have in Thailand. However, you should note that this will not increase or reduce the size of your breasts; it will just reposition them higher up to give you a more youthful shape.

To change the size of your breasts, you may want to also consider a breast augmentation (using implants) or breast reduction, both of which are often combined with this procedure.

Why Consider Breast Lift Surgery in Thailand?

With its vibrant capital, dozens of gorgeous islands in the south and the hills up north promising a more laid-back experience, Thailand has been on the global travel map for half-a-century. Today, it's also one of the world’s leading destinations for medical and health tourism—both in terms of the value and quality on offer.

The country has modern, state-of-the-art facilities, as well as highly trained medical staff and a commitment to customer service that most of us can only dream about in comparison to the services we often have to put up with at home.

Medical tourism has been a boon for the Thai economy, and the country is keen to preserve its status as a number one destination, careful to ensure that the quality is high, so that patients will choose to come to Thailand over another destination. The relationship between medical providers and patients in Thailand is a self-perpetuating one; patients come because of the good services as well as the low prices, and if that wasn't the case, they simply wouldn't come.

Training in Thailand:

Plastic surgery here is a competitive profession, with only the most adept candidates offered a place at medical school. This involves six years of training, followed by another two or three as an intern, usually working in rural areas. Only after completion of these eight or nine years can a residency be obtained to work towards becoming a specialist. Depending on what specialty is undertaken, it takes further years of training before board certification.

Many doctors do train internationally and will often have international professional affiliations with organizations such as the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

At Medical Departures, we look into our doctors’ pasts, checking criminal and legal records, and verifying qualifications, experience and professional memberships–all good indicators of trustworthiness.

What Does the Procedure for a Breast Lift Involve and How Long Does it Take?

The breast lift procedure usually takes between one and three hours. Different surgical techniques can be used to carry out the procedure, depending on your surgeon’s preferences, as well as your own medical and physical condition.

The procedure essentially involves the removal of excess skin and breast tissue repositioning, which is done via a series of inconspicuous incisions. The surgeon will work to restore firmness and "lift" the position of breasts higher up the chest, creating a perkier appearance.

After the procedure:

  • You will be encouraged to get up and move around as early as possible.
  • Painkillers may be prescribed to help alleviate discomfort.
  • You should be able to take part in most everyday activities after two weeks.
  • You will need to avoid heavy lifting or anything strenuous for at least six weeks.

What Is the Cost of a Breast Lift in Thailand Compared to Australia or New Zealand?
