Breast Lift in Mexicali

The ultimate guide to Breast Lift in Mexicali

Last fact-checked: 3 November 2020

Over time, a woman's breasts often change, losing their youthful firmness and shape. Such changes can occur as a result of gravity, aging, weight fluctuations, breastfeeding, and pregnancy.

A breast lift in Mexicali could be a great solution to help you feel more confident about your appearance, at an affordable price.

What Is a Breast Lift?

Also known as mastopexy, breast lift surgically raises and firms the breasts (rather than adding volume). This is achieved by tightening the surrounding tissue and removing excess skin to support and reshape the breasts, giving the patient a more youthful appearance.

A breast lift can also help to reduce an enlarged areola (the colored area surrounding the nipple).

Are You a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

In considering whether you are a good candidate for breast lift surgery, it is important to recognize that this procedure will not change the size of the breasts.

  • When the goal is to also increase the size of the breasts, a breast lift may be combined with breast enlargement.
  • Women may have a breast lift performed at any age, once the breasts have finished developing.
  • This procedure can be performed before and after pregnancy as it should not interfere with a woman's ability to breastfeed. However, it should be avoided if you are planning to become pregnant in the near future due to inevitable changes in the breasts after childbirth.

Why Get a Breast Lift in Mexicali?

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it is important to select a breast lift surgeon based on his or her certification, training, and education. Additionally, the surgeon's experience with breast lift surgery should also be considered. As such, it is certainly important to spend some time researching your options when planning a breast lift procedure.

An increasing number of North Americans are now traveling to medical destinations in Mexico to take advantage of quality healthcare, low prices, and the opportunity to relax in a sunny environment while recovering from their procedure. Mexico is a particularly popular option for travelers from the United States and Canada, as it can be reached conveniently by either driving or flying.

At Medical Departures, we are committed to recommending only those healthcare facilities and physicians we have thoroughly vetted. As part of our comprehensive quality check process, we conduct in-depth background checks that include:

  • Confirming professional memberships and qualifications.
  • Investigating criminal and legal records.
  • Carrying out on-site visits to get a feel for how things are done.
  • Medical facilities and physicians are only included on our list once we are completely satisfied with our research.
Many of our listed surgeons have memberships of both the Mexican surgical board and the American Surgical Board.

How Long Does a Breast Lift Take and What Should I Expect from Recovery?

Prior to undergoing a breast lift, it is important to speak to your specialist regarding your final goals. Before you go into surgery, your physician will mark the desired position on your breast where your nipple will be raised.

After being taken to the operating room, the procedure starts after general anesthesia is administered and takes effect.

During the procedure, your surgeon will remove any additional skin and lift up the breast tissue to the desired location. If the procedure is to also involve breast enlargement, implants will then be inserted. Finally, the surgeon will close the incisions with sutures and bandage your breasts. Drain tubes may be inserted in the breasts for between 24 and 48 hours.

Post-surgery, the following should be noted:

  • Patients should expect to feel some discomfort for several days following a breast lift.
  • Your surgeon may recommend that you have a special dressing in place or wear a bra for a few days to provide the necessary support.
  • You may require pain medication during the first week.
  • Within two to three weeks following the procedure, your sutures will be removed.
  • It is important to recognize that the shape and size of your breasts will continue to improve for some time following your breast lift.
  • You should limit your activity during your recovery, as directed by your surgeon.
  • Most patients are able to return to work within one week following a breast lift, although it may still be necessary to wear bandages and a surgical bra.
  • As the healing process continues, discomfort may last for several more weeks. For this reason, you should avoid vigorous activity during this time.
