Last fact-checked: 21 August 2020

A breast enlargement in Phuket can boost your self-esteem and give you the body confidence you’ve been longing for. With Medical Departures on your side, you can find the best prices online and ensure your treatment is carried out by a skilled, highly-experienced surgeon in Thailand.

Is a Breast Enlargement for Me?

There are many reasons why you may be unhappy with your figure and feel your breasts are too small for your body. They may have lost volume due to pregnancy, weight loss, or breastfeeding; perhaps they have just lost their perkiness and are drooping, uneven or sagging.

If you want your clothes to fit better, your figure to be proportioned or to restore symmetry, throw away your padded bra forever and take a medical vacation in Phuket.

Why Should I Consider a Breast Enlargement in Phuket?

Thailand is a well-established destination for cosmetic surgery and welcomes some two million medical tourists every year. Some people flock here for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the country's excellent standards and affordable fees for medical procedures, while others choose to combine non-invasive treatments with the holiday-of-a-lifetime.

Of all the fabulous destinations in Thailand to go for treatment, Phuket is one the most popular thanks to its gorgeous beaches, incredible food, vibrant nightlife, perfect climate, beautiful people, lush jungles and colourful history. The island really does have something for everybody and there won’t be a dull moment if you head to Phuket to restore your boobs to their former glory.

What About the Quality of Care in Phuket?

The reason for the massive difference in prices here and at home is not because of inferior work or materials but because the cost of living and overheads are far lower in Thailand and the savings are passed on to you. The medical tourism trade is a significant part of the Thai economy and in order to keep the people coming, the standard of work must be top quality. Thailand has the most Joint Commission International-accredited facilities in Southeast Asia, and this award is generally only given to hospitals, you will find that independent clinics strive to provide top-quality facilities matching international standards.

Thai doctors’ training has met and often surpasses Western standards. Many do their postgraduate training abroad and are often American board-certified so you can be sure you’re in safe hands, provided you choose wisely.

This is where Medical Departures comes in. We verify qualifications, any professional memberships with international medical organizations and online testimonials. We also visit clinics personally and if we’re not satisfied with any aspect of the services we don’t list them on our site.

What’s Involved in Breast Enlargement and How Long Does it Take?

Breast enlargement (or breast augmentation as it is medically known) is performed under general anesthetic and usually takes between one and two hours. Methods used can be surgical implants or fat transfer.

An implant procedure uses a prosthesis to change the contour, shape and size of the breasts. The most commonly used implants are silicone—liquid, gel or solid form and saline implants. The most popular choice is silicone: small, medical-grade sacs with a self-sealing valve. These usually have a lifespan of between 10 and 15 years after which they will need to be replaced or removed.

Your surgeon determines where and how your implant will be positioned depending on your frame. An incision is made in one of four places: underneath the armpit, below the breast in a natural crease, around the lower edge of the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple) or in the navel. The breast tissue is lifted to create a pocket and the implant is placed in the pocket either underneath the breast tissue and on top of the pectoral muscle or beneath the pectoral muscle between the breast tissue and the chest wall.

Using the fat transfer method, liposuction is used to remove fat from the abdomen or thighs and injected into your breasts. The benefit of this procedure is that there is no threat of rejection as you’re using your own body substances.

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Enlargement?

If you’re in sound overall health, have a positive mental attitude and realistic expectations, then you’re likely a good candidate for this procedure. Your surgeon will discuss the best options for your case and recommend the procedure which will suit your best.

What Is the Recovery Time for Breast Enlargement?

Although it’s recommended that you take at least two weeks off work, you will probably be allowed to go home the same day if all is going well. Be prepared to experience swelling, pain and bruising; your breathing may be restricted due to tightness in your chest. These symptoms can be helped by staying in a semi-upright position to reduce swelling and taking plenty of rest while your body heals. Over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol can be used and your pain and bruising will subside over time, realistically a few weeks.

Avoid excessive movement of your arms, lifting heavy weights or strenuous exercise as this can cause bleeding and irritation. Your new breasts may feel hard and you will feel discomfort and occasional painful twinges while you recover.

You will probably be invited back to see your surgeon so they can monitor your recovery and be able to resume normal activity within six weeks of your operation.

What Is the Cost Comparison of Breast Enlargement in Thailand Compared to the US and Canada?

The average cost of a breast enlargement in Phuket is around AUD $5,00 (GBP £2,400; US $3,400; €3,100) compared to $16,500 in Australia (UK £7,900; US $11,300, EUR €10,400).
