Breast Enlargement in Thailand

The ultimate guide to Breast Enlargement in Thailand

Last fact-checked: 11 October 2020

As one of the world’s top destinations for affordable yet high-quality cosmetic surgery, Thailand is the ideal place to receive a breast enlargement. You'll be able to enjoy an exciting holiday in Southeast Asia's most-visited country before recuperating in style as you take things easy after surgery.

Breast enlargements (also classified as a type of breast augmentation) are one of the most popular surgeries, and our range of background-checked clinics in Thailand boast high satisfaction ratings among our past clients and other patients.

Find a surgeon and clinic that's right for you in the Land of Smiles with Medical Departures.

Why Consider a Breast Enlargement in Thailand?

A breast enlargement using implants (informally known as a "boob job") is a common and relatively straightforward procedure, especially when compared to other cosmetic surgery. While you will be tender after surgery, the downtime is relatively minimal, meaning you should be able to do some light walking after a couple of days' rest in your hotel. During this time, you could treat yourself to a little pampering–the Thai’s are renowned for their legendary customer service.

Thailand has been attracting medical tourists from all over the world since the 1990s. Competitive prices, high-standards and bilingual staff have seen it remain a popular destination, with the country promising so many other attractions to enjoy on a pre-surgery vacation.

Thailand is a beautiful, diverse country with a rich cultural heritage, great food and landscapes just waiting to be explored–the perfect holiday destination. Relax in exotic beach locations or dine out in Bangkok’s first-class restaurants–there’s always something to suit all tastes.

Medical Facilities in Thailand?

With regard to medical expertise and facilities, Thailand is among the world's most highly regarded medical travel destinations; in fact, it has more JCI-accredited facilities than any other country in Southeast Asia. Thailand remains ahead of the game as the income from medical tourism is reinvested back into services to make them ever more appealing and reliable in terms of customer care, price and quality.

With so much choice, Medical Departures makes the process of finding a reputable surgeon and modern clinic much easier. We pre-check doctors and clinics, which includes conducting on-site visits, verifying qualifications and professional memberships and looking for any legal or criminal records. Along with verified patient testimonials, if anything we find doesn’t stack up, we simply do not list them.

What About the Materials Used for Breast Enlargements in Thailand?

You will find that the exact same materials used in breast implants at home are used in Thailand's best clinics. These are normally silicone but also include saline and other ‘alternative implants’ with a biocompatible material, such as soybean.

If you only want to increase your size slightly, then the autologous fat transfer method may also be an option, where fat is transferred from one part of your body into the breast tissue. This involves liposuction to the donor site where the fat is removed and processed before it is injected into the breast.

What Does Breast Enlargements Surgery Entail?

Before your surgery, in consultation with your surgeon, you will already have chosen the material and size of the implant you would like.

In theatre, you will be given an anesthetic and the surgeon will make small incisions in your breasts where the implants are to be inserted. The exact positions of these do vary, depending on your circumstances, as well as the surgeon’s own preferences. The incisions may be made:

  • Under the armpit
  • Under the breast in the crease where it joins the chest wall
  • Around the colored part of the nipple

Once your surgeon is happy with its placement, the incisions made will be stitched closed, and bandages or compression garments applied to help the healing process. Sometimes drains may be inserted into the wounds to help fluid drain away.

The surgery only takes between one and two hours. As it is normally done as an out-patient procedure, you should not need to stay overnight in the hospital.

What Is the Recovery Time for Breast Enlargements in Thailand?

The initial recovery stage is usually around one week. You will suffer quite a lot of discomfort and tenderness for a few days, as well as bruising and swelling. This will gradually subside over the next few weeks.

It will take around six weeks before you can embark on physical exercise again, or strenuous activities, like heavy lifting.

What Is the Cost of Breast Enlargements in Thailand Compared to Australia and New Zealand?

The cost of breast enlargements in Thailand is around AUD $5,000, compared to around AUD $11,000 in Australia.
