Botox in Cancun

The ultimate guide to Botox in Cancun

Last fact-checked: 7 November 2019

Planning a vacation to the Mayan Riviera? Then why not return home looking younger and refreshed with a course of safe and affordable Botox in Cancun.

What Does Botox Actually Do?

Botox is the brand name for a product containing the active ingredient botulinum toxin. By injecting the product directly into the skin, the active ingredient prevents the release of a chemical in the muscles which paralyzes them. As a result, the underlying muscle used for certain expressions, such as frowns, are prevented from contracting as much, which fewer lines and wrinkles.

Why Should I Have Botox in Cancun?

Cancun is one of, if not the, most popular holiday destination in Mexico. Along the Mayan Riviera, it is blessed with beautiful coastlines – white beaches fringe turquoise, marine-filled waters – and is perfectly located to explore the remains of Mexican’s ancient Mayan culture. A very safe part of Mexico, Cancun is a magnet for holidaymakers from around the world and has the infrastructure, services and facilities to deliver a memorable experience.

As medical tourism is increasing, so too are the facilities springing up in renowned tourist destinations such as Cancun. Savvy clinics, surgeons, doctors and practitioners are taking advantage of the rise of health and wellbeing holidays, which actually encompasses all sorts of treatments from massages to surgery. It is only a small step from having a facial to getting Botox, and the beauty of these injectables is that they are quick, relatively painless and deliver immediate results.

Any holidaymaker who wants to return home looking even more fabulous (and who doesn’t?) will find plenty of good-quality, hygienic facilities offering an array of aesthetic treatments at prices that will save a considerable amount of money compared to the prices at home.

With so many facilities to choose from it does provide a small dilemma – how do international visitors know if they’re any good? At Medical Departures we have tackled this problem head-on, and have done all the necessary background checks so that anyone booking through us know their chosen clinics’ and practitioners’ credentials are all up to standard. You won’t find any listings on our site that we aren’t happy with.

What Is the Procedure for Botox?

Before treatment begins you and your practitioner will decide which areas are to be treated and a local anesthetic will be given. The area will be wiped with antiseptic and the Botox will be injected directly into the chosen area with a fine needled syringe. Each area should only take a few minutes to do and the process will be over quickly.

What Is the Recovery Time From Botox?

There is very little downtime from Botox injections apart from some very slight swelling and localized skin redness, which should calm down after a day or two, if not within hours.

When Will I See the Results From Botox?

You will see an immediate effect from the Botox injection, but the results are temporary, lasting for between three to six months. Top-ups can be carried out to keep up the effects.

How Much Can I Save on Botox in Cancun Compared to the United States or Canada?

Botox prices in Cancun are around $9 a unit or around $540 (CAD $660, £350 GBP, €480, AUD $700; €600) per area, compared to $12 per unit, or around $720 in the United States (CAD $880; £460 GBP, €630, AUD $900, €660).
